"Sharkitekt derive from a small town in Cyberspace, a stone's throw from a nuclear accident."
"Influences:Mainly the crackle of the radioactive static, but there's no way of telling what else. When the songs are singing, you tend to look at things a bit differently. When the vision clears, you hear better. When the songs are finished, you get the members together and try to decipher the symbolism of water. Or something."
"Sounds Like:A cross between falling asleep on a long journey, and that radio station that only seems to broadcast for about 20mins a day. Chainsaw remix available at no extra cost."

Formed in March 2006, the group known as Sharkitekt have had a diverse musical journey.

What's the history?:
Rusty Medicine started producing demo tracks back in 2002, influenced by various forms of dance music. Two years of effort culminated in a disappointing return of just seven songs, and Rusty abandoned his creative output to focus on a novel. He returned abruptly after encouragement from a fellow musician, Jonny Bustamamte. Jonny, more famous for producing rock/metal, [took his hand] to writing some tunes with an industrial/techno edge to them. Still featuring blistering drum solos, the mix was distorted and appealed in the same way as a "mixed" kebab (according to Rusty). The two individuals began to feed ideas off each other, and would often swap audio tracks over instant messengers/ftp/phone. This led to the placement of the building blocks that would later become Sharkitekt.
Over the next five months came new members with even better names: Uncle Bagpipes, MC Chloride, Excelsius Membranes, and Richmond Sides. These new creative inputs allowed for more productivity, and four songs were hastily assembled and uploaded to MySpace. The tracks were diverse, and it was hard to tell if they were by the same group. Polls were conducted, and the results were even more awkward; people liked all the songs for different reasons.
So, the idea became clear. Rusty Medicine would be the musical director. Any ideas offered could be used if they matched the criteria, but all candidates could use the ideas wherever they wanted. Somehow this ethos was happily undertaken without argument or fuss, and the number of songs grew to eleven.
The respective members looked to branch out under their own flags as well as being part of the collective. This led to a wide array of musical styles, and allowed for musical differences to be taken care of more easily.
In early 2007, a hard drive failure obliterated most of the forthcoming album tracks, including a great deal of work in progress. The team learned valuable lessons from the event.
By now, it was apparent that musical differences had grown quite significantly. Excelsius Membranes in particular was unhappy with the direction, and preferred to stay in contact without being an active musical contributor. Uncle Bagpipes (AKA "Jimmy") also became in increasing strain on the working relationship; finally a truce was called, and Jimmy decided to roll out his own music, and that the two groups would advise each other. It was all starting to look good.
Sadly, lightning struck twice, and in early 2008 a second hard drive failure wiped a significant amount of the album work once again. Backups had been made, but unfortunately the majority of the work from late 2007 was irrecoverable.
Meanwhile, the Suburban Alien Machines had bred, and so were looking to move to a new galaxy. They formed an integral part of the initiation of Sharkitekt, and their efforts cannot go without merit. The group are believed to be away on a worlds tour currently, and we eagerly await their return and subsequent tales.

Why the present?:
Sharkitekt are now rewriting (mostly from scratch) the LONG awaited album, Luminosity. The musical direction has forked & peeled away since the original tracks, but it has been decided to release the album as closely as possible to how it was, and include newer compositions on the fortcoming EP (name TBA). Some of the original artwork has been found and/or salvaged, and the wheels are slowly turning. Expect a release in 2010.

When's the future?:
Future activity will include a concept album, as well as a collaberation & remix of selected songs of all members over the last four years. And of course the obligatory single/music video/tour/etc. as & where possible if the whim takes.
